Home Towels

Every relaxing bath or shower has to end, and there is no better way to finish off the day than cover yourself in comforting, water absorbent towels. Find out what to look for when shopping for home bath towels.

What is GSM

GSM means grams per square metre, indicates the weight of the towel fibres. As a rule of thumb, the higher the GSM, the more absorbent, thicker and more plush the towel. If you are into more delicate and lightweight towels, lower GSM might mean that this is the products for you.

Quality Towel Material

When you already know the density of the material, it is time to look into the fabric itself. The most popular and desired material composition for the towel is undeniable cotton. With its natural fibres it is soft to the touch, generally long-lasting and easy-care. On the other hand, you might stumble across towels made of synthetic materials. They tend to cost less, be more lightweight and sometimes with quick-dry feature.

How to Care for Bath Towels

The key to enjoy your fluffy towels for a long time it a proper everyday care. The best tip is to always follow care labels, but some rules may apply to the majority of the sheets. Usually it is advised to wash towels at between 30-50 °C, and keep light and dark washes separate to avoid dulling. Overuse of fabric softener can reduce the absorbency of the towel over time, so it is recommended to go easy with it. For any pulls and snags, just snip off the loop with a pair of scissors. And always remember to wash the towels before the first use - this should remove any finishing products that could have been used in the factory.
