Qualities of Teak / Yellow Balau Wood

The natural oil content of Teak / Yellow Balau woed protects it from rotting, because after the dehumidification process to wood cannot absorb any more moistness, thereby making it extremly weather-resistant and almost unbreakable. This in connection with its classy appearance makes Teak / Yellow Balau wood to one of the most popular materials for garden furniture.

The colour of the wood may vary strongly, from striped or spotted to green, brown or orange shades of colour. The colour of your furniture may also change intensively within a few days. With time, the continuous moistening of the surface can lead to a greying resp. silvering layer, also known as "patina". This process is natural and can be witnessed on almost all kinds of wood, but the attained shade of grey is different with each type of wood. This layer is very thin because of the saturation of the wood from natural oils. Additionally, over time small cracks may occour, especially with end grains. These cracks do not have any influence on the living expectancy or statics of the furniture.
